I thought Camp 2.0 was an excellent way to try out AND find out about so many different tools/programs out there. I learned way more than I thought I would... which is great! The best part was I really had to figure out how to use the program on my own (haha, which was also the most frustrating part, at times ... sometimes I had to walk away and come back to that project again later :)). That makes it so much more meaningful for me. Now I really feel like I remember how to use each program and could go back to create something for my first graders. That type of exploration works so much better for me as a learner than having someone show it to me at a meeting, for example.
For me, Prezi and Storybird were the two hardest tools to use... probably because they took me the longest amount of time. There was so much trial and error when I was creating my Prezi. For Storybird, I just had to make my brain think differently! That being said, I think now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing and how the programs work, maybe the next time around it would be easier. I've thought of so many ideas/ways to use the Screencast-o-matic in my classroom... along with my own Youtube account as well. So far I'm thinking some classroom training videos - "how to" videos (how to do your lunch count, how to get a new pencil, how to transition in the classroom, how to do Daily 5, etc.). One of the best activities for me was learning about Weebly and creating my own webpage. I'm SO excited to try it out as my classroom webpage this year!
I really liked that we used the blog as our format for turning in assignments and sharing with each other. I tried not to look at anyone else's activity posting before I did my own. That way I could compare what I did to another person's and see what I liked/didn't like about mine versus another project. Sometimes another camper's activity gave me ideas that I might use next time I create. This blog also inspired me to try out a classroom blog this year. We'll see how it goes! :)
Will there be another Camp 2.0... maybe a Camp 2.0 #2 so we can try out and learn about more tools????!!!! :)
Great ideas for using screenomatic and videos in your class. I also liked your web page. I agree, a summercamp #2 would be useful.
